Rock Park Spa Centre
Approached
by a bridge over a stream flowing in a rocky ravine, the Rock
Park Spa set in a charming, small, wooded park is of great importance
in the town's history. It is one of the four sources of springs
which made Llandrindod Wells famous as a spa town. in the grounds
there is the chalybeate marble drinking fountain and samples of
the saline spring water are available from the cafe.
The
buildings are now being managed by the Llandrindod Wells Spa Town
Trust which aims to preserve the historic site by creating a modern
hydrotherapy centre together with facilities for a range of complementary
medicines. (The architects' plans showing a sensitive modernisation
of the buildings are on display.) This project already commands
considerable support and will need future fund-raising. Several
qualified practitioners in complementary medicine are working
here, establishing the beginnings of the Spa Centre. This development
working with the National Health Service will lead to a thriving
medico-therapy business.
This
project is important for the town in rejuvenating a neglected
building, preserving the town's heritage for the future and establishing
a worthwhile service to the large community. The Trust as a registered
charity would welcome any donations towards this project.
The
Rock Park is registered by C.A.D.W. as one of the historic parks
in England and Wales.
