JUST LOOK AT THAT!

The artists and craftspeople in Llandrindod Wells and the surrounding areas have a wealth of inspiration and history upon which to base their work. English and Welsh/Celtic influences of ‘dragons, myths and legends’ abound as well as the New Age, Environmental and Modern interpretations with their ever changing and adapting themes. We are proud of our talented artists and craftspeople who put so much of themselves into their work – whether humble clay creations, fantastic ceramic, wood or metal pieces, charcoals, pastels or paint on papers and canvas, photographic panoramas or textile fabrics, furnishings and cosy clothing creations. All of these creations will grace any home and become heirloom possessions – for the visitor purchasing a souvenir or gift - with fond memories of ‘Wales at its Best’ in Llandrindod Wells – an area of top Welsh art and craft talents. Llandrindod Wells has many fine art galleries and craft shops. Some artists have their own websites and can offer a mailorder service – so you can still go back for that ‘special something’ that you’ve found you just can’t do without!

Dave King
This talented and versatile sculptor and woodcarver uses fine woods (especially walnut, yew and tulip) that revealing their beautiful hidden grains when carved. Using a wide range of tools and finishes Dave ‘Captain Chainsaw’ can bring forth artistic shape and form from almost any part of the tree from roots making freeform bowls and table tops to trunks for large sculptures and seats with mystical toadstools and mushrooms from branches or provocative silhouettes from bark.
Dave had the honour of carving a ‘corgi’ from walnut for Queen Elizabeth II during her Jubilee visit to Dolau in 2002 which was present by the Children of Powys.
Commissions are always welcome. All pieces are suitable for indoor or outdoor display. Contact: (01597) 824782.

You must make sure you visit the fabulous new addition to the Lake Park carved by Dave, the Landoddie’ which sprang to life from the trunk of an oak – what a terrific re-use for a diseased tree that had to be felled!
